Events Leading up to the American Revolution
There were many events that lead to the American Revolutionary War. The British put many acts into place that made the colonists aggravated. Listed below are three major acts that lead to the war.
Proclamation Line of 1763
The Proclamation Line of 1763 prohibited the colonists to cross west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British decided to pass this act so they would keep their promise with the Indians. But the colonists saw this act as an act against them. The colonists thought the British passed the act so they could easily control the colonies. They thought keeping them in a confined space would allow the colonists to be able to tax easily and keep them weak.
The Currency Act of 1764
Currency Act of 1764 limited the control of the colonists to print money. They were required to pay bills in hard coins. Their money became worthless.
The Quartering Act of 1765
Barracks
The Quartering Act of 1765 required the colonists to provide barracks for the British soldiers. They also have to provide soldiers with supplies. They did not have to have their houses serve as the soldiers homes.
The Declaration of Independence
Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence along with three other people. The Declaration of Independence says that we, the United States of America, declare our independence from England. The title explains it for itself.
